M&T Lawyers was interviewed by Accounting Messenger over the issue that hotels view business tax to value-added tax policy as an excuse for price increases

During May Day holiday, more than a number of hotels have declared a higher price than ever before, taking value-added tax policy as an excuse. The senior partner of M&T law firm Shi Zhiqun was interviewed by Accounting Messenger on the issue.

Mr. Shi said that after applying for the new policy of tax, the small –scale taxpayer of VAT bear lower burden of tax which drops by about 40%, while the general taxpayer of VAT also bear lower burden of tax which basically same with business tax before. He believed it is unreasonable that hotels put higher price as a result of the new tax policy.
